Did God Really Say That? How to Recognize False Teaching | Jason Johnson

How do you know when someone claiming to speak for God is actually speaking for God?

Jason Johnson joins me for a conversation about biblical discernment, false teaching, prophecy, and why Christians need to know Scripture well enough to recognize when something doesn't line up.

Jason shares how conflicting beliefs early in his Christian walk forced him to dig deeper into Scripture. He also tells the very personal story of a woman telling him that God had revealed he was supposed to be her husband—and why his own desires made that message easier to believe.

That experience raises a question that reaches far beyond Jason's story:

Are we discerning what God has actually said, or believing something because we want it to be true?

We talk about reading Scripture in context, comparing Scripture with Scripture, the danger of building theology around isolated verses, biblical meditation, false prophecy, and what happens when people become disappointed with God over promises He never actually made.

Jason also walks through his 4-Step Biblical Discernment Framework and leaves men with a challenge about protecting their own relationship with Christ while carrying the responsibility of providing for others.
